Participation in the celebrations on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the first Balkan War /02.11.2012/


     The members of the association participated in the multitude of initiatives on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the first Balkan War.

     The vice prime minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov, who is also a chairperson of the National Initiative Committee for celebrating the anniversary was welcomed by the 101-year-old Asen Golemanov, resident of the village of Kamen, Strazhitsa municipality.

     Asen had served in the 18th infantry Etar regiment, who were garrisoned at the area of the former military school. That is where a memorial tablet was unveiled in memory of those soldiers from the regiment who fell in the wars of national liberation. The Veliko Tarnovo garrison is one of the oldest garrisons in Bulgaria and it was formed as far back as the time of the Liberation. On top of the Arch of the Veliko Tarnovo generals was hoisted a replica of the 18th infantry Etar regiment's flag.

     Floral tributes were placed in front of the memorial tablet on the Military Club and in front of the "Mayka Bulgaria" monument (the monument of Mother Bulgaria). The celebrations were brought to an end by a military tattoo.
